Dr. Larry D. Markley
Dr. Markley's Bio
Dr. Markley is the co-owner and leading veterinarian at All Creatures Veterinary Clinic and Lodge. He founded the practice in 1980 and has been providing quality, compassionate care to Ohio’s pets ever since. His veterinary journey began on his family’s dairy farm, where he enjoyed working with large and small animals. His interests continued with his participation in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program. Put simply, Dr. Markley absolutely loves working and interacting with animals!
He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University with a specialty in preventive medicine and is a member of various veterinary organizations. These include the Summit County American Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Behavior Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, and American Animal Hospital Association. He has won numerous awards throughout his career, including Wadsworth Community Television’s Rosie Award for the “Animal Crackers” show.
Since his time on his family’s farm years ago, Dr. Markley has worked in both large animal (dairy and swine) and small animal practices. He enjoyed working with farm families who dedicated their lives to dairy and crop farming. As a small animal veterinarian, he also enjoys working with clients to help their dogs, cats, and other small animals live longer, healthier lives. Although being a veterinarian has included many difficult cases that require research and creating treatment plans, he gladly welcomes the diversity of the practice.
To stay current on the latest in veterinary medicine, Dr. Markley regularly completes continuing education courses in laparoscopic surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, behavior science, CT scan, imaging, neurology, zoonotic diseases, and oncology. As the leading veterinarian, he applied these and other skills to implement state-of-the-art technology to enhance the clinic’s diagnostic services and increase staff knowledge base and applications.
Dr. Markley is married to Sally, the practice manager at All Creatures Veterinary Clinic and Lodge in Rittman, OH, with whom he has five grown children, five grandchildren, and eight “grandpets.” He and Sally also have their own pets, including five dogs, six cats, and two horses.
